<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a robust image alignment technique that can be used for biometric image analysis and reduces the effects of background noise, non-uniform illumination, and other imaging artifacts. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a method for analyzing image slices.
