<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflecting material that can reflect infrared rays (light with peak wavelength in 250-2,500 nm) excellently from ultraviolet rays and that can cause neither degradation by ultraviolet rays nor discoloration by oxidation. <P>SOLUTION: The reflecting material comprises a ceramic sintered body formed by molding a mixture of raw material powder and an organic binder and then baking it. The raw material powder contains a ceramic raw material and a scatterer for accelerating the scatter of light in a visible light area inside the ceramic sintered body. The ceramic raw material contains borosilicate glass raw material and alumina. The scatterer is at least one selected from niobium pentoxide, zirconium oxide, tantalum pentoxide and zinc oxide; and the scatterer is contained at 5 wt.% or more when the total weight of the raw material powder is 100 wt.%.
