PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reinforcing device in which a coated fiber portion and a fusion-splicing portion can be easily fixed at appropriate positions of a plate material and an internal splicing state can be checked even after pinching a cable by sequentially fixing a coated fiber portion and a fusion-splicing portion of an optical cable. SOLUTION: The reinforcing device for a fusion-splicing portion of an optical cable includes a first plate member 6 having rigidity and having a length and a width capable of fixing both of a spliced coated optical fiber 4 and a fusion-splicing portion 5 of the fiber, a second plate material 8 and a third plate material 9 disposed in parallel, a cushion material 10 such as a urethane resin having an approximately U-shape cross section, and a fastening tool 11 that fastens each of the second plate material 8 and the third plate material 9 to the first plate material 6 so as to pinch the coated optical fiber 4 and the fusion-splicing portion 5 in the cushion material 10 and firmly press the coated optical fiber 4 with the cushion material 10.
