PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recognize timing of next replacement of an external memory easily when performing continuous photographing. SOLUTION: When the external memory 106 is mounted, moving image data is recorded in an external memory 106. When a residual capacity of the external memory 106 is less than a value defined beforehand, the recording place of the moving image data is changed from the external memory 106 to a memory 108 in a main chassis, and when a new external memory 106' is mounted, the recording place of the moving image data is changed from the memory 108 in the main chassis to the new external memory 106'. In this case, a residual capacity obtained by subtracting the capacity of the moving image data, which in turn was recorded in the memory 108 in the main chassis during the replacement of the external memory, from the residual capacity of the new external memory 106' or a recording enable time duration calculated from the residual capacity is displayed on an LCD 105.
