<p>Disclosed is a titanium-containing aqueous resin composition having excellent coatability, excellent film formability and excellent adhesion to bases, which is stable for a long time. Also disclosed is an aqueous resin composition which enables formation of a uniform coating film having a high photocatalytic function. Specifically, a mixture (A) obtained by mixing a titanium alkoxide, an organic acid and water functions as an emulsifier for emulsion polymerization. An aqueous resin composition can be produced by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer (B) having an ethylenic double bond in the presence of the mixture (A). The aqueous resin composition produced by the method can be used for an aqueous coating material. The thus-obtained coating material excels in coatability, film formability and adhesion to bases, and is stable for a long time. In addition, when the aqueous coating material is applied over a base, there can be formed a uniform coating film having excellent adhesion to the base and a high photocatalytic effect.</p> |
