<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately judging whether or not developer stored in a developing unit (toner cartridge) is suitable for use in the image forming apparatus when the developer container (toner cartridge) is loaded. <P>SOLUTION: In a printer configured to judge that the toner stored in the developing unit is not suitable when a driving current value of a motor for driving a developing roller is larger than a reference current value, and then, to inhibit the use of the developing unit, the motor is driven in the state where the developing unit is detached (step S12), and a current value (idle-drive current value I<SB>E1</SB>) required to drive the motor is obtained. When the developing unit is loaded, drive information as information about a toner composition change is obtained from a memory installed in the developing unit, and the reference current value is corrected using the idle-drive current value I<SB>E1</SB>and the drive information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
