<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of controlling cleaning frequency of a contact type electrifying device so that faulty electrification can be effectively prevented from occurring without shortening the service life of a photoreceptor. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus, where an electrification part, an exposure part, a developing unit and a transfer part are arranged around the photoreceptor, performs image formation by an electrostatic copying system, while it uses a contact type rolling member which rotates following the photoreceptor as the electrification part, and further includes a cleaning means for cleaning the peripheral surface of the rotating contact type rolling member. The image forming apparatus includes a calculation means (step S904) calculating an amount equivalent to cumulative consumption of toner in the developing unit, and a cleaning control means (step S905) performing control so that the cleaning frequency by the cleaning means can be lower stepwise as the amount equivalent to the cumulative consumption becomes larger. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
