PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescent element with an organic layer formed by a wet deposition method in which an element of a long life can be obtained. SOLUTION: In the method of manufacturing an organic electroluminescent element having a hole injection layer and/or a hole transport layer and a light emitting layer between a positive electrode and a negative electrode, a first heating step in which a composition containing a hole injection material and/or a hole transport material and a solvent is deposited and a deposited membrane is heated in a temperature of boiling point of the solvent or higher, a first cooling step of cooling the membrane, and a second heating step of heating the membrane are followed in the above order to form the hole injection layer and/or the hole transport layer.
