PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that performs white display as bright as or brighter than an image by a display device employing a vitreous silica substrate, by using a resin substrate that can sufficiently transmit light throughout a visible light region. SOLUTION: An image display device includes: a pair of substrates facing each other, and particles placed in a gap between the substrates, wherein at least one of the substrates is a resin substrate having a light transmittance of 50% or more at a wavelength of 300 nm.
