PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing pre-expanded particle of styrene modified polyethylene-based resin exhibiting an excellent self welding property in foaming in a mold without washing the surface of the pre-expanded particle. SOLUTION: The pre-expanded particles of a modified polyethylene-based resin are obtained by dispersing styrene modified polyethylene-based resin particle with a dispersing agent into an aqueous dispersing medium in a pressure tight case, adding a foaming agent into the pressure tight case and heating to a temperature higher than the softening point of the styrene modified polyethylene-based resin particle, impregnating the foaming agent into the styrene modified polyethylene-based resin particle at a pressure higher than the vapor pressure of the foaming agent, discharging the mixture of the styrene modified polyethylene-based resin particle and aqueous dispersing medium to a lower pressure zone from the pressure tight case while maintaining the temperature and pressure of the pressure tight case to be constant, wherein a fine particle silicate mineral is used as the dispersing agent.
