PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of connecting a connection pipe and a sewage main pipe for remotely connecting in watertight way the connection pipe to a connection hole for the sewage main pipe from the ground. SOLUTION: This method of connecting a connection pipe and a sewage main pipe comprises a connection pipe insertion step for inserting the connection pipe 1 to which a mechanical lock branch pipe M is attached through a flexible joint 3 through a casing 82 and bringing a flange part 51 into contact with the flange part 51 into contact with the connection hole 21 for the sewage main pipe 2, a claw piece hooking step for inserting an insertion tool K through the connection pipe 1 until facing the inside cylindrical lower part and enlarging a claw piece 6 to hook a hooking part 62 to the hole edge of the connection hole, a handle rotating step for positioning a handle rotating tube 73 to face a fastening ring 7 through the gap between the casing 82 and the connection pipe 1 and connecting the mechanical lock branched pipe M to the sewage main pipe 2 by rotating a handle 71, and a pulling up step for pulling up the handle rotating tube 73.
