<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffer capacity determination method, capable of enhancing productivity of a production line, and a production line with a buffer capacity determined by this method. <P>SOLUTION: In the buffer capacity determination method for determining a capacity of each buffer for storing products in process between steps in the production line 1 including a plurality of processes A-D, the number of products in process to be processed within a unit time in the rate-limited process C with the lowest processing capacity of the plurality of processes is calculated, a required time for processing this number of products in process in each process other than the rate-limited step C is calculated, and a difference time between the unit time and the required time is calculated.
