摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which is substantially reduced in size, compared to a conventional optical module, by devising a structure of engagement between a cylindrical lid and a lens-barrel, and enables easy and simple adjustment of the focus of a lens. SOLUTION: The optical device includes a lens unit 11 which has an opening 4 at a given position, contains a lens 2 for focus adjustment, and has an engaging recession 1a formed on the inner periphery of the lens unit 11, and a CAN package 13 having a laser diode 5 disposed to be separated from the lens 2 across a given distance and an engaging projection 3a formed on the outer periphery of the CAN package 13. The lens unit 11 and the CAN package 13 are assembled together in such a way that the lens unit 11 covers the CAN package 13 to engage the recession 1a of the lens unit 11 with the projection 3a of the CAN package 13.
