PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display which easily allows color displaying. SOLUTION: A system and a method are for addressing an array of MEMS display elements, such as an optical interference modulator, from drive control, and the display includes groups of the display elements addressed using a commonly applied drive signal. A response time of the optical interference modulator is affected by a characteristic resistor-capacitor time of a driver circuit including a modulator, i.e. a time until a movable mirror of the modulator is charged up to an intrinsic voltage, a mechanical characteristic of the modulator, and a resistance of the movable mirror moving in air. The groups of the display elements are constituted to have different response times, and are driven by pulses of different lengths expressing the response times thereof. The other groups of the display elements are constituted to have different actuation voltages, and are driven by pulses of different voltages expressing the actuation voltages thereof.
