PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed matter identifying method for easily identifying desired printed matter or not in printing print data on printed matter. SOLUTION: The printed matter identifying method for identifying specific printed matter and ordinary printed matter when transmitting print data from a personal computer body 2 to a printer 8 to print the printed matter, comprises providing a specific corner part of the specific printed matter with a specific cutout, providing a printed matter detecting means 46 corresponding to a predetermined position of the printer 8, and identifying the specific printed matter by a printed matter discriminating means 76 if the printed matter detecting means 46 detects the specific cutout in the specific corner part when the printed matter to be printed is located in the predetermined position.
