The present invention relates to a process for the organo-catalysed kinetic racemate resolution of compounds of the general formula (II). It is thus possible through the action of catalytic amounts of enantiomerically enriched compounds of the general formula (Ia) or (Ib) to obtain on the one hand enantiomerically enriched optionally N-acylated beta-amino acid esters and on the other hand enantiomerically enriched 4,5-dihydrooxazin-6-ones (oxazinones). The corresponding enantiomerically enriched beta-amino acids can be formed from both easily separable classes of compounds by simple hydrolysis.
