The invention relates to a method for monitoring the surfaces of slag and molten metal in a mould of a continuous casting apparatus, using radar equipment. According to the invention, the radar equipment emits a beam of electromagnetic waves having a bandwidth of at least 20 GHz. The invention also relates to an apparatus for using the method.
