Provided is a mobile terminal for supporting UART communication and USB communication using a single connector and an operating method for same. The mobile terminal of the present invention includes a USB connector, a USB module selectively connected to the connector so as to communicate with an external USB device, at least one internal UART device selectively connected to the connector so as to communicate with an external UART device, a judging unit for judging if the connector is connected to the external USB device or the external UART device on the basis of the signal applied to at least one of the pins of the connector, a switching unit for connecting data lines of the connector selectively to the USB module or at least one UART device on the basis of the judgment made by the judging unit, and a CPU for controlling the switching unit. The mobile terminal of the present invention is capable of automatically switching data lines of the connector to an appropriate internal device in accordance with whether the device connected to the connector is a USB device or a UART device. |
