In particular, disclosed is a composition for the prevention and treatment of dementia comprising a hot-water soluble extract of a herbal mixture (so-called 'Koo Gi Ji Hwang Tang' ) including steamed Rehmannia Radix, Lycium Fructus, Discoreae Rhizoma, Cornus Fructus, Hoelen, Moutan Cortex Radicis and Alismatis Rhizoma.
