PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily retrieve his or her desired video scene. SOLUTION: When a user inputs a keyword, and operates a retrieval key (ST2, ST3), a CPU converts the keyword into a text code, and compares the text code of the keyword with the text code of a voice text while successively moving the keyword position by every character (ST5 to ST7). Each time the keyword is matched with the voice text, the CPU reads the time codes of in/out of the matched text codes, and indent-displays the time codes, that is, the keyword positions on the video time line of a monitor (ST8, ST9). When a prescribed keyword position on the video time line is selected by the user, the CPU displays the representative image corresponding to the keyword position selected by the monitor, and when a reproduction instruction is made by the user, the CPU displays video corresponding to the prescribed keyword position on the monitor.
