PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an atomic oscillator that forms no extremely low temperature part on an internal surface of a gas cell in which a quantum absorber is enclosed and can accelerate stable gasification of the quantum absorber. SOLUTION: The atomic oscillator includes the gas cell 20 in which the quantum absorber is enclosed, a light emitting element which irradiates the gas cell with resonance light, a light receiving element which detects light passed through the gas cell, and a heating means for heating the gas cell up to predetermined temperature. The oscillator controls an oscillation frequency based on light absorption characteristics in the gas cell 20. The heating means is an infrared heater 44 and a wall surface 22 of the gas cell 20 is formed of a heat-resisting infrared absorbing member. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
