PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cooled ultraviolet irradiation apparatus provided with a means for suppressing occurrence of thermal deformation that the center part of a luminous tube of a mounted long tube type ultraviolet lamp hangs down by gravity when lighting the lamp in a configuration that the effect on performance is minimized as far as possible. SOLUTION: The ultraviolet irradiation apparatus is constituted so that the outer surface of the center part of the luminous tube is held by a pair of luminous tube supports which are arranged in a positional relation to cross the ultraviolet irradiation direction on a figure projected on the surface vertical to the tube axis of the lamp luminous tube at a right angle and to be opposite to each other across the luminous tube. The luminous tube support is composed of a luminous tube support chip having a recessed contact surface with the outside surface of the luminous tube and comprising a high heat resistant translucent material and a fixing pile penetrating and fixing the luminous tube chip, provided with a ventilation hole, inserted through a partition wall parting a light source part from a ventilation cylinder part and comprising a high heat resistant and high thermal conductive metallic material.
