METHODS FOR EFFICIENTLY ACQUIRING WIDE-AZIMUTH TOWED STREAMER SEISMIC DATA

Methods for efficiently acquiring wide and/or rich azimuth towed streamer marine seismic data are described. One such method includes: deploying a marine seismic spread; passing at least the marine seismic streamer in a generally curved advancing path over a sub-sea geologic region; and shooting the source and recording reflections from sub-sea geologic features using the marine seismic streamers while traversing the generally curved advancing path. The marine seismic spread includes at least one source and at least one marine seismic streamer, the marine seismic streamer including a plurality of acoustic receivers. The generally advancing curved path includes a multiple-Dahlia coil dissected by a straight line path.
