<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorizing/smoke consuming filter medium which can remove deposited oil mist and eliminate odor and focalized smoke by adsorption and is disposable successively depending on the degree of deposition amount. <P>SOLUTION: First, a filter base cloth is obtained by forming nonwoven fabric with specified width, thickness and voids, using an inorganic fiber of fine size or a synthetic fiber of fine size or a natural fiber of fine size. Further, artificial zeolite powder with 10 to 30 μm average particle diameter, not less than 80 m<SP>2</SP>/g specific surface area and not less than 150 mg cation substitution capacity(meq/100 g), is applied on the entire surface of the filter base cloth, at the coating build-up rate of at least, not less than 50 g/m<SP>2</SP>.
