PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile station capable of performing communications on a channel for communication between mobile stations via a base station and a channel for direct communication between the mobile stations without performing manual change operation when changing setting of both the channels. SOLUTION: A radio communication system is for communicating from a mobile station 12 to a base station 11 at a frequency fu and communicating from the base station 11 to a mobile station 12 at a frequency fd. In communication between mobile stations via the base station 11, the transmitting-side mobile station 12 performs transmission at the frequency fu and the receiving-side mobile station 12 performs reception at the frequency fd. In direct communication between the mobile stations 12, transmission/reception is performed between the mobile stations at the frequency fu, During call arrival wait, the mobile station 12 periodically alternately confirms the frequencies fu and fd, thereby performing communication on both the channels for direct communication between the mobile stations 12 receiving the frequency fu and the channel for communication between the mobile stations 12 via the base station 11 receiving the frequency fd.
