PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming device connectable with a monochrome scanner unit or a color scanner unit by a small device scale. SOLUTION: The image forming device includes an original-manuscript reader connection part 1 which is connectable with a color original-manuscript reader that reads an original manuscript in a color mode or a monochrome original-manuscript reader that reads an original manuscript in a monochrome mode, a control part 2 which acquires original-manuscript data from the original-manuscript reader connected to the original-manuscript reader connection part 1 so as to generate image data by executing prescribed processing which corresponds to a format of the acquired original-manuscript data to the original-manuscript data, and an image forming part 3 for executing image formation on the basis of the image data.
