PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record detailed image data of a narrower imaging range when roughly imaging moving images in a wider imaging range. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus 100, which includes an electronic imaging part 12 provided with imaging areas for imaging an object, includes a CPU 71 for executing, for image data generated by imaging the object in a first imaging area among all the imaging areas of an imaging element: processing of reducing the data amount of image data; processing of generating moving image data on the basis of image data whose data amount is reduced and recording them in a recording medium 5; and processing of recording still image data generated by imaging a main object in a second imaging area in the recording medium on the basis of the input of a recording instruction of the image of a human body as the main object within the object imaged in the second imaging area narrower than the first imaging area among all the imaging areas of the electronic imaging part when recording the moving images.
