PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of poor ejection caused by a contact with a nozzle surface and breakage of a meniscus because a suction force is lost to immediately stop an attraction fan of a paper conveyance part when conveyance jamming takes place during paper conveyance. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a recording head 10 which ejects liquid droplets, a conveyance belt 61 which conveys attracting the paper oppositely to the recording head 10, a releasing mechanism 160 which shifts the conveyance belt 6 between a home position proximate to the recording head 10 and a release position separated from the recording head 10, and a control means which controls to shift the conveyance belt 61 from the home position to the release position in the state that the paper is attracted to the conveyance belt 61 when conveyance jamming of the paper is detected, and to move to turn round the conveyance belt 61 in the same direction as a paper conveyance direction in the state that the belt is shifted to the release position, thereby discharging the paper on the conveyance belt 61.
