PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for continuous casting which can suppress, or further can prevent the delay of the solidification of a slab at the corner part of the mold to produce a slab of high quality, and which has a prolonged life than before. SOLUTION: The mold 10 for continuous casting includes: short members 11, 12 arranged opposite to each other at a spacing W1; long members 13, 14 putting the short members therebetween from both sides in the width direction and arranged opposite to each other; and a space 15 formed by these members, the mold 10 is used to draw a molten steel within the space downward while cooling and solidifying the molten steel to produce a slab with a sheet width of≥600 mm, wherein the spacing W1 between the short members 11, 12 is made narrow in accordance with the solidified and shrunk shape of the slab toward the drawing direction of the slab, the internal cross-sectional shape of the short members 11, 12 satisfies prescribed expressions respectively in the range from the molten metal surface of the molten steel to the molten steel 200 mm below the surface and the range to the molten steel more than 200 mm below the surface, and coating layers by thermal spraying are formed on the internal sides of the short members 11, 12.
