PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a fluctuation of a bulging molten metal surface level, in an earlier stage, which occurs when the casting speed is accelerated. SOLUTION: Before performing frequency analysis of a molten metal surface level signal, the sampling time is corrected by utilizing past casting speed data, whereby a current bulging frequency can be determined even immediately after a change in casting speed, and the fluctuation of the bulging molten metal surface level can be suppressed more quickly.
