The appliance has a capacitive key (1) i.e. touch key, whose actuation surface has an electrically conductive surface (5) that is formed of an electrically conductive layer i.e. undercoating. The undercoating has aluminum or copper as an electrically conductive laminate material. The electrically conductive layer is a layer from conductive paint i.e. silver conductive paint, and has a stabilized metallic oxide in transparent form. The stabilized metallic oxide is applied on an insulating cover by a Sol gel process. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting a household appliance.
