The method involves forming a hole (9) for inserting a rivet element (1) in wall parts such as side wall and cover (15). The wall parts are scaled on a side and enameled on an opposite side. The wall part is formed in a conical region (20) that defines the hole, and an enamel material and/or a scaled material are removed in the conical region during formation of a rivet connection. The conical region is deformed during the formation of the rivet connection such that an electrical conducting connection is formed between a base material of the wall part and a material of the rivet connection. An independent claim is also included for a rivet connection between a rivet element and a wall part of a household appliance.
