CIRP-BASED ANTITUMOUR COMPOUNDS

The present invention relates to the identification of the capacity of CIRP, a protein expressed through heat stress at low temperatures and that has an essential role in the suppression of cold-induced cell proliferation, for preventing replicative senescence in primary cells. The invention describes the use of CIRP for the treatment of diseases related to undesired cell senescence and also to CIRP-inhibitor compounds (antisense oligonucleotides, ribozymes and the like), for the treatment of diseases associated with undesired cell proliferation.
