PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device without imposing any operation burden on a user by enhancing the visibility of information such as a landmark on a map displayed after a map scroll operation, and to provide a display method of the map display device. SOLUTION: In the map display device capable of performing the scroll display of a map and the display method of the map display device, the map image of the scroll interrupted position is displayed and auxiliary information is not displayed till predetermined time elapses just after user's map scroll operation is interrupted, and the auxiliary information is displayed after the lapse of a predetermined period of time.
