PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television broadcast receiver that executes channel selection of television broadcasts and switching of input from external equipment, at a high speed. SOLUTION: The television broadcast receiver is provided with a control means for instructing selection of a decoding path, in response to key operation of a key-operation input means of a remote control or the television broadcast receiver; an output control means for outputting a video-sound signal decoded by the decoding path instructed by the control means; and a plurality of the decoding paths each comprising at least one channel-selection means for selecting a television broadcast signal; an external input means for receiving the input signal transmitted from external equipment; a path switching means for executing switching between the selected television broadcast signal and the input signal transmitted from the external equipment; and a decoding means for decoding the input signal supplied by the path switching means. The television broadcast receiver is configured to instruct the output control means to output the television broadcast signal or the video-sound signal of the input signal transmitted from the external equipment, by selecting one from among a plurality of the decoding paths by the control means.
