An image group title assigning device is comprised of a title candidate assigning means that assigns a plurality of title candidates to an image group having a plurality of images, a characteristic amount calculating means that individually calculates characteristic amounts of the plurality of images contained in the image group in association with the respective plurality of title candidates, and a title determining means that determines a title representing the image group out of the title candidates in accordance with the characteristic amount of each image calculated for every title candidate.
