PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens moving mechanism in which while a size reduction is achieved, its structure is simple, its assembly is easy, and rectilinear movement accuracy and positioning accuracy in the direction of an optical axis and response accuracy are further improved. SOLUTION: The lens moving mechanism includes: a lens frame 2 holding a lens 21; a guide mechanism 3 engaged with the lens frame and supporting the lens so that the lens is movable parallel to the optical axis; and a nut body 5 helically engaged with a lead screw 61 moved rectilinearly along the optical path by a motor 6 disposed next to the guide mechanism. The nut body and the lens frame are connected via a magnetically held spherical body 4. The guide mechanism is composed by engaging the lens frame with two guide shafts 31 disposed parallel to the optical axis, so that the lens is movable parallel thereto. To connect the nut body and the lens frame via the magnetically held spherical body, a magnetic body 52 is disposed on the nut 5, a permanent magnet 23 is disposed on the lens frame 2, and the spherical body 4 made of a magnetic substance is flanked by the nut body and lens frame by means of their magnetic attracting force.
