PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sample preparation device for performing dyeing operation, without making the device structure complicated. SOLUTION: This sample preparing device comprises a cassette storage section for storing a cassette for storing slide glass; a slide glass insertion section for inserting the slide glass painted by a painting section into the cassette supplied from the cassette storage section; a dyeing section for applying the dyeing processing to the cassette into which the slide glass is inserted; and a slide glass detection section for detecting whether the slide glass is stored in the cassette, supplied from the cassette storage section. When the slide glass detection section detects that the slide glass is stored in the cassette, this sample preparation device conveys the cassette to the dyeing section and carries out dyeing processing.
