<p>The invention relates to a device for measuring the geometrical characteristics, in particular the thickness and the profile, of a rolled strip (1) in a hot reversible rolling mill. The device (gauge) can be used for measuring said characteristics using a C-shaped frame (81), including an X-ray transmitter (811) and receiver (812) each positioned on one of the two ends of the frame, along the entire width of a rolled strip (1) running between the transmitter (81) and the receiver. A protection structure (84) is also provided between the transmitter and the receiver in a plane parallel to the strip (1), the structure including a first oblong opening (841) along the entire width of the strip (1) and a superimposed shutter that itself comprises a second oblong opening having the same size as the first oblong opening. The shutter, based on its position, can be used on the one hand for blocking the first oblong opening (841) for preventing interference of the strip (1) with the measuring device and, on the other hand, for permitting the free flow of the X-rays through the strip in order to make a measure.</p> |
