The injector (1) has an injection valve element (10) which is adjustable between a closing position and an opening position. The injection valve element is controlled by a control valve (21) that has a control valve element (20). A sealing surface (24) of the control valve element rests against a control valve seat (25) formed as a flat seat with closed control valve. A functional surface (34) is provided radially outside the sealing surface on the front side of the control valve element for adjusting the sealing surface relative to the flat seat by interaction with a counter surface (36).
