The supply has two energy converting sources (Q1, Q2) for generating energy, where the energy converting sources are coupled by an electrical coupling device (KE). A control unit (SE) is provided for controlling electrically switchable loads (V) and/or for controlling an internal combustion engine (4) of a motor vehicle (2). The control unit is designed in such a manner that performance of one load is reduced/shortened and/or speed of the internal combustion engine is increased, during detection of defects in one of the two energy converting sources.
