<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article excellent in the fitting, the capability of following the movement of a wearer, the capability of preventing leakage and the strength, and capable of being inexpensively manufactured without generating blocking. <P>SOLUTION: A substantially vertically-long absorbent article 1 comprises a liquid-permeable front surface sheet 2, a rear surface sheet and an absorber 4 interposed between the sheets. The rear surface sheet 3 has a number of projections 31 projecting toward the non-skin-contact surface in such a state as dispersed in the longitudinal direction and in the cross direction of the absorbent article 1. The rear surface sheet 3 is joined to the absorber 4 at recesses 32 between the projections 31.
