PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing method in which a uniformly glossy printed matter is formed, and to provide a printer. SOLUTION: In the printer of an inkjet system, a halftone dot image is generated by turning a multi-tone original image into halftone dots with the use of a first threshold matrix. The halftone dot image is printed by delivering a photo-curable coloring ink towards a base material with a liquid repellency from a plurality of delivering openings. Subsequently, a flat tint image with a dot percentage of not smaller than 1% and not larger than 40% is generated by using a second threshold matrix whereby a density of halftone dots in the halftone dot image generated is lower than that of the first threshold matrix. The flat tint image is printed by a transparent ink by delivering the photo-curable transparent ink from the plurality of delivering openings. The halftone dots of the transparent ink are distributed according to the flat tint image on the base material. Thus relatively large dents and projections are formed macroscopically uniformly while minute dents and projections of the coloring ink are relieved, so that the uniformly glossy printed matter can be obtained.
