PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a focus detection error due to an operation of a vibration control system. SOLUTION: An imaging device 101 includes a focus detection means 212 performing a focus detection operation using light from an imaging optical system, and a control means 217 controlling the operation of the vibration control system 202 detecting vibration and displacing a vibration control optical element in the imaging optical system. The control means limits the operation of the vibration control system during the focus detection operation so that the vibration control optical element 111 is displaced within a displacement allowable range smaller than that during a period other than the focus detection operation.
