PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting device and mounting method for a pluggable optical transmission and reception module that can enhance an EMI shield function by effectively and electrically connecting a front panel opening, a cage, and a module housing of a host device to one another by a plurality of fingers and also making gaps between the fingers reducible. SOLUTION: Disclosed is the mounting device which mounts the pluggable optical transmission and reception module 11, which has a receptacle 19 to which an optical connector is connected and has a main body portion covered with the housing 13 made of conductive metal, in the cage 16 of the host device. The cage 16 has the plurality of cage fingers 19 each comprising a first elastic contact portion coming into electric contact with the front panel opening of the host device and a second elastic contact portion coming into electric contact with the housing of the pluggable optical transmission and reception module, the first elastic contact portion and second elastic contact portion being formed as one continuous finger.
