PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost control device for an electric servo press which can safely and surely perform sudden stop in a short time to a rapid stop command while avoiding a severe mechanical brake operation, also, even in a case the runaway or the like of a servo motor is generated, can surely and swiftly stop the same, and further has excellent operability and working efficiency. SOLUTION: The electric servo press 1 changes working into the rotation stop control of a servo motor 10 in accordance with a rapid stop motion CRVs based on a rapid stop command signal Skt, causes a brake operation in such a manner that a mechanical brake 15 actually starts braking at a scheduled stop time t3 till it stops in accordance with the stop motion, and also, forcedly cuts off a power source for the rotation driving of the servo motor 10. In this way, even in a case rapid stop is required since there is abnormality or the like in the servo motor 10, a control system therefor or the like, and it, e.g., runs away, the rotation of the servo motor 10 can be surely and swiftly stopped.
