PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flexible tube for an endoscope, capable of obtaining high bending prevention performance without neither increasing frictional resistance on a tube outer surface nor enlarging the diameter of the tube. SOLUTION: In the flexible tube for the endoscope, circumferential rib-shape parts with projected cross sections and circumferential slit parts with recessed cross sections are alternately formed in the axial line direction of a tube body on the outer peripheral surface of the tube body in a tubular shape. When the tube body is bent, the circumferential rib-shape parts, which are adjacent by holding the circumferential slit parts between them, are abutted by compression stress in the axial line direction to work on curved inner parts, and thereby a component force is generated toward the center part of the bending.
