<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high pressure fuel pump control device for an internal combustion engine contributing to stabilization of a fuel system of the internal combustion engine, stabilization of combustion and improvement of exhaust emission performance by optimally controlling the high pressure fuel pump provided with a normally closed type solenoid valve as a pump suction valve. <P>SOLUTION: The control device for the variable displacement high pressure fuel pump includes a pressurizing member reciprocated by rotation of a pump drive cam provided on a camshaft of a valve system of the internal combustion engine, changes volume of a pressurizing chamber and repeating a suction stroke and discharge stroke to perform pump action by reciprocating motion of the pressurizing member, includes the solenoid valve to which pump suction pressure is applied in a valve open direction and which closes in the OFF state of an electrical drive signal and opens in the ON state of an electrical drive signal as the suction valve in a fuel suction passage with respect to the pressurizing chamber, and controls pump discharge capacity by open/close control of the solenoid valve. The ON state output of the electric drive signal is started in the middle of the suction stroke of the high pressure fuel pump. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
