PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more surely photograph a subject brought into focus as intended by a photographer by performing imaging after correcting a time difference between an instant intended by a photographer who is monitoring focus movement and a prescribed time when a shutter release is actually pressed, and driving a focus lens to a focal position intended by the photographer. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus includes: a solid imaging device that electrically converts an incident object image and outputs it as an imaging signal; the focus lens that forms the object image on the imaging device; a focus driving part that adjusts the focal position of the object image by moving the focus lens in an optical axis direction; a release switch that inputs timing when a shutter is opened; and a controller that controls operation of an apparatus body.
