PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus achieving high-resolution photographing, wide dynamic range and high quality image and reducing the load of a signal processing. SOLUTION: A first CCD 18 with a color filter 36 and a second CCD 21 with no color filter are simultaneously exposed to light. The second CCD 21 is exposed to light with sensitivity lower than the first CCD 18. A digital signal processing circuit 25 calculates a brightness signal Y1 of the first CCD 18 and a brightness signal Y2 of the second CCD 21 from respective image data after gamma conversion by different gamma curves. The brightness signals Y1 and Y2 are mixed at a predetermined ratio to calculate a brightness signal Y3, further calculating color-difference signals Cb2 and Cr2 from the brightness signal Y3.
